Web design in Figtree
Practices, firms and clinics sell one thing before they sell anything else, and that is confidence. Your website is where most patients and clients decide.
Around Figtree, most businesses sell trust.
There is a distinct cluster here. Medical and allied health around the private hospital and the surrounding consulting suites. Accountants, brokers, planners and solicitors in the offices along the highway and around Figtree Grove. Specialists who take referrals rather than walk-ins.
None of them are competing on price and none of them can demonstrate the work before someone commits. A patient cannot try a surgeon. A client cannot sample a solicitor. So the decision gets made on proxies, and the website is the biggest one available before the first appointment.
That changes what the site has to do. It is not there to be clever. It is there to make a nervous person feel they have chosen properly.
What a practice or firm website actually has to cover.
Sites in this category fail for the same handful of reasons, and they are all fixable.
- Who am I actually seeing. Real photos, real names, real credentials. Stock imagery of a smiling model in a lab coat does the opposite of what it is meant to do.
- What it costs and how it works. Fee ranges, whether you bulk bill, whether a referral is needed, what a first appointment involves, health fund or payment arrangements. Vagueness here reads as evasion.
- How to take the next step. One obvious action per page. Phone for some audiences, online booking for others, an enquiry form for the ones who cannot ring during business hours.
- Readable on a phone at 10pm. That is when a lot of health searching happens. Small type, dense paragraphs and a form nobody can complete one-handed will cost you the appointment.
- Correct and current. Old fees, a practitioner who left, a closed location. Nothing damages credibility faster, and it is the easiest thing on the list to fix.
Found by patients, and by the people who refer them.
Referrers check you too. A GP deciding where to send someone, a solicitor recommending a specialist, an accountant naming a broker: they all look at the site first, and often more critically than the patient does.
So a practice website has two jobs at once. It has to convert the person searching for their own symptoms or their own problem, and it has to survive a professional scanning it for competence. Structure, plain language and accurate detail serve both. Marketing bluster serves neither.
On the search side, this is one of the more competitive corners of the Illawarra, because a practice here draws from the whole city rather than the suburb. That usually means ongoing work rather than a one-off build, and we will tell you plainly whether it is worth it in your situation. SEO
Privacy, security and keeping it running.
A site that collects patient or client details has obligations. At minimum: a working SSL certificate, form submissions that go somewhere secure rather than to a shared inbox nobody owns, a genuine privacy policy, and software kept patched. An abandoned WordPress install with an enquiry form on it is a real risk, not a theoretical one.
We keep the sites we host patched, backed up and monitored, so this stays somebody's job rather than nobody's.

Common questions about local web design.
The same five questions come up wherever we are working across the Illawarra, so here they are answered once.
Does my business need its own page for each area it works in?+
Not always, and doing it badly is worse than not doing it. It is worth it when you genuinely service several distinct markets and the searches for them are separate, and it is only worth it if each page says something true and specific about that area. A set of near-identical pages with the place name swapped is something Google actively penalises, and we will not build them that way.
Do I need a shopfront to show up in local search?+
No. Plenty of businesses across Wollongong and the Illawarra work from a ute, a home office or a yard and rank perfectly well locally. What matters is that your business details are consistent everywhere they appear, your Google Business Profile is set up correctly for a service area rather than an address, and your website is clear about where you actually work.
My customers come from several different areas. Does that change the website?+
It changes the structure more than the design. If you travel across the region, the site needs to say so in a way people and search engines can both read, rather than leaving them to guess from your phone number. We work that out with you at the start, because retrofitting it later usually means rebuilding pages.
Do you come to us, or does it all happen over the phone?+
Both work. We are based in the region and cover Wollongong and the Illawarra, so meeting in person is easy to arrange when it helps. Plenty of projects run entirely by phone, email and screen share, which suits people who cannot stop work for a meeting. Your call, not ours.
What happens after the website goes live?+
The site is submitted to Google properly rather than left to be found, and you get shown how to update the things you will want to change yourself. After that you can look after it or we can, with hosting, backups, security updates and changes as you need them. Either way you own the site, the domain and the accounts.
Tell us about the practice, the patients or clients you want more of, and what your current site is doing. We will tell you what would actually move the needle.
No obligation. We will tell you if a job is not worth doing.
